Well, after a lovely weekend in Florence (updates and pictures soon to come) I find out I have an upper respiratory infection...(after the stomach bug that made an appearance during the wee hours of Sunday morning) I should have known this was coming because my voice has been coming and going since last Wednesday and I have been feeling very tired and run down.
The doctor was very nice and I should start feeling better as soon as my antibiotics kick in!
I realize this post is not all that exciting, but it is a part of my Roma experience. I can now say I've seen a doctors office in Rome, not that I'm proud of that, but I have to say, it was a heck of a lot nicer than some of the offices I've been to in America. (I think it was because there were very nice, comfortable leather couches and chairs...)
Needless to say, Rome never ceases to amaze me. Plus the area surrounding the doctor's office was actually very nice and I might just have to head back there one day and walk around (it's only a few metro stops from me). I've decided to see this day/ experience as just another way for me to get to know Rome. I have also utilized the Farmacia for it's true purpose and not simply going there to buy nail polish remover!

It Still Hits Me...
Sometimes I find my self looking up at the beautifully decayed architecture and it hits me all over again that I’m living in Rome…My day to day is usually busy and I forget where I am. Then I'll look up and see a building or a fountain or even just an entry way to an apartment building, so breathtakingly beautiful I am instantly reminded to slow down and look at what's around me. I'm trying to learn to take my time when traveling from place to place because there is something unexpected and pictorial around almost every corner. I want to absorb as much as possible and I find myself standing motionless in the street just staring because I want more than anything to soak up every bit of the Roman life.
Birthday in Roma
Tomorrow, January 23rd, I turn 21 in Italy. Other than the fact that I still can't believe I'm in Rome, I can't believe I am turning 21. I know that for the Italians turning 21 does not hold the same weight as it does for Americans. Although, this doesn't bother me. I'm living in Rome and will remember that this is where I spent my 21st birthday. It will be an amazing memory to have and I know looking back it be truly mean something special...
Some friends and I shared an early birthday drink at a relaxed BAR/ Ristorante near our school in Prati.

Roman Arrival
Although I've been in Rome for 18 days now I'd like to share the experience of my arrival... After a cramped 8 hour plane ride (in the window seat), Continental Airlines flight CO401S landed at the Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in Rome, Italy. After passing through an unexpectedly short customs process I had made it. I was in the city where I'd be spending the next four months of my life. The only way to describe my feelings for that moment was surreal. I will be documenting my experiences on this blog and share with anyone and everyone what "La Dolce Vita: The Sweet Life" truly is.
